Anna Bair
Mathematics for EECS Instructor
Hometown: Grand Rapids, MI
I’m currently an MEng student in the EECS department at MIT, where I’m doing research in Prof. Peter Szolovits' Clinical Decision-Making Group on using machine learning to improve the process of drug development. Next year, I’ll be doing research in Barcelona with a Fulbright, and then I’m going to start a PhD in Machine Learning at Carnegie Mellon University. In my free time, I enjoy running, reading, rock climbing, and spending time with friends. I’m excited to meet all of you and I’m looking forward to a great summer at WTP!
Melody Cao
Electrical Engineering Instructor

I am a third year PhD candidate in the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. I work in the Organic and Nanostructured Electronics Laboratory under Professor Vladimir Bulovic. I study light-matter interactions in the strongly-coupled regime and apply what is known about these quasiparticles of light and matter to useful room-temperature devices such as optical switches and quantum computing. In my spare time, I play on the MIT Women’s Hockey team. I love the act of creativity in art, especially in the medium of oil painting. I also find it hard to turn down a spontaneous adventure, because I have found the most amazing experiences from the most unexpected places!
Christine Konicki

Hi everybody! I'm Christine, and I just graduated from MIT with my MEng from the EECS department. My thesis was on the application of computational complexity and algorithms to knockout tournaments (a.k.a. the arrangement of competing basketball teams for March Madness), and my supervisor was Professor Virginia Williams of CSAIL. I also have been teaching at MIT ever since my freshman year, as a lab assistant and as a graduate TA. Outside of MIT, I love to run, watch/discuss movies, read books, and lift heavy things at the gym. I also give epic running tours of Boston/Cambridge -- let me know if you want to come, and welcome!
Residential Tutors are current
female MIT undergraduates or recent graduates.
They assist the WTP-EECS Instructors in the classroom and labs and lead evening office hours to help students with homework. They live in the dormitory with the high school students, chaperoning residential life, creating fun activities and field trips, and sharing information about their college coursework and research.

I'm a rising junior at MIT. I like hanging out with friends, games (video, board, card), and squash (the sport, but also the vegetable). I enjoy teaching and am involved in tutoring 6.009 (Fundamentals of Programming) as well as MEET (teaching Israeli and Palestinian high school students computer science in Jerusalem). I also participate in Addir, MIT's interfaith discussion group. I'm also pretty into 20th century history, especially as it relates to conflict in the Middle East.

Hi I’m a rising sophomore interested in computational design! I do lots of arts and crafts, but not just the typical origami type of crafts. I like to work with weird materials like aluminum cans, styrofoam, and just about anything I can get my hands on! I have a lot of experience in mobile app design as well as general software things (I’ve dabbled a bit in most programming languages). I am currently working on learning about CAD and rendering, and how graphics, computer science, and design can blend together to create cool things!
Residential Assistants live in the dorm and assist with the final motor building project, but do not have other classroom or tutoring responsibilities. They help make a warm residential community, organize study breaks and other dorm activities, and lead weekend field trips into Boston and Cambridge.

Hi friends! I’m Annemarie, a rising sophomore. I enjoy both mechanical and electrical engineering, so my major is a combination called 2a6. I love working on projects (ask me about the LED/RFID enabled frisbee my toy design team made!) and if there’s free time you can find me reading, playing board games, or just hanging out with friends talking about anything and everything. I’m also on the aerodynamics and composites subteam of MIT’s solar car team and maintain my dorm’s EE lab. I was in WTP EECS 2017 and am excited to be back as your RA! Come say hi and hang out anytime.

My name is Shaida Nishat, a rising sophomore studying biology and maybe a few other things at MIT. I’m also a premed so it’s pretty accurate to say that I’m a hyped, energetic individual who loves challenges. I enjoy experiencing new things and am always down for fun activities, exploring Boston, talking about life and other things, cooking/baking sessions, and just hanging out. WTP is a program that provides students with a welcoming and supportive environment, and as your RA, I’ll do my best to contribute to that. Don’t hesitate to say hi to me, I love meeting new people and I hope this program is everything you all want it to be!

I have been the WTP Director since
fall 2002, after the first pilot summer. Before that I managed computer
software companies and worked in management consulting. My two children are grown; my daughter lives in NYC and my son and his wife live in Boston. In my free time I like to sing,
read mysteries, and watch old movies, especially film noire, musicals
and science fiction. I love living in Lexington, where every April they reenact the first battle of the American Revolution on the town common (and we see Redcoats and Minutemen taking coffee breaks at Starbucks). In addition to my WTP responsibilities, I also direct
the Industrial
Connection Program here in MIT EECS.
